AdrianWarren.com: Reviews: Canon EOS 400D
Looking underneath the camera, the metal tripod thread is perfectly aligned with the centre of the lens. |
The built-in flash on the EOS 400D is E-TTL II compatible, and has a Guide Number of 13m (@ISO100). The internal flash sync speed is 1/200s or slower, and both first and second curtain sync are supported; but the internal flash isn't capable of acting as a wireless master.
The EOS 400D supports all E-TTL II facilities with suitable flashguns; including wireless multi-flash setups. E-TTL II support allows the camera to include focus distance as a factor in the flash exposure when used with a compatible lens. When used with suitable zooming flashguns (430EX, 580EX and 580EX II) the focal length will be correctly adjusted for the smaller sensor size.
The camera supports all Canon EF and EF-S lenses, although as the sensor is APS-C size the focal length is subject to a 1.6x field of view crop. In real terms this means that a 10mm lens on this camera will produce a similar field of view to a 16mm lens mounted on a standard 35mm camera. As you can imagine this is useful for telephoto lenses, but rather less useful for wide angle.
Here you can see the waveform of the EOS 400D shooting JPEG continuous, 30 seconds. Card used was a 2GB Sandisk Extreme IV; shutter speed is 1/500th.
